Refuse Driver/Loader

Aragon Direct Services (a trading name of Peterborough Limited) are recruiting full time Refuse Driver/Loader to work as part of their team based in Peterborough.

The main purpose of this role is to collect refuse and recycling from residential properties in Peterborough and dispose of it at the appropriate waste collection sites.

Hours of work – 37 hours Tuesday – Friday

What does the role involve?

  • Collect refuse/recycling from requested locations and dispose of at the appropriate waste collection sites.
  • Carry out daily vehicle inspections and complete appropriate paperwork.
  • Drive / load as directed.
  • Operate the compaction controls of a company vehicle when required.
  • Operate the ‘in cab device’.
  • Ensure that where premises, gates, barriers are unlocked to gain access and they are relocked, paying particular attention to the safeguarding of keys.
  • Carry out and assist with Loading responsibilities as required.
  • Ensure paperwork is completed fully and passed to the relevant Supervisor.
  • Ensure the satisfactory completion of work in accordance with instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with both company vehicle policy and all legislative requirements.

Requirements – qualifications

  • Driver CPC qualification.
  • Full Category C driving licence.

Requirements – experience:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Driving experience.
  • Experience of using a Digital Tachograph Card is desirable.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety, Manual Handling, legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience of refuse collection is preferable.

Streetcare Foreman

Peterborough Limited – Trading As Aragon Direct Services,  are looking to recruit a skilled and experienced grounds maintenance professional with specific knowledge, experience and qualifications to complement our frontline supervisory team.

This role is responsible for the effective and efficient day to day operations of our operational teams; ensuring that their work activities and actions are in line with our expectations and company procedures. Our Foreman have responsibility for the day-to-day management of our operational teams and services, and are fundamental to a effective service delivery.

This includes being responsible for the efficient and effective planning and managing of resources and work activities, as well as monitoring conduct, performance, quality, productivity and health and safety throughout our teams and operations, and to undertake and address under/poor/unacceptable performance or conduct as appropriate.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • To ensure daily work schedules are communicated to all gangs, and completion or exception reports are signed off at the end of each working day.
  • To ensure all service indicators are met and / or ensure cost effective remedial action is taken where appropriate to address.
  • To be responsible for ensuring all company procedures within their responsible teams are implemented, monitored and completed as required.
  • To ensure high standards of quality, health and safety and customer satisfaction are delivered at all times.
  • To demonstrate high levels of customer service skills throughout, and to ensure high standards of customer satisfaction is consistently delivered to our numerous stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a positive can-do attitude and approach to their work
  • At least 5 years’ experience of undertaking maintenance/horticultural activities within a commercial setting.
  • At least 2 years’ experience of managing teams of grounds maintenance operatives and services within a commercial or/and local authority environment
  • Demonstrative technical knowledge and practical skills in a wide range of grounds operations, including grass maintenance, ride-on mower use, shrub pruning, weed spraying, sports maintenance and fine turf
  • A full current UK driving licence.

Tree Surveyor

Aragon Direct Services (a trading name of Peterborough Limited) are recruiting a full-time permanent tree surveyor to work as part of their tree team based in Peterborough, providing services to a large local authority client.

Managing a large and diverse tree stock; ranging from street trees, parks, open spaces and woodlands, the successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking cyclical and reactive surveying, as well as providing technical advice and support to a variety of stakeholders on tree related matters. This includes members of the public, Council officer and members.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a progressive client where the management of their large tree stock is a key priority, and thus supported with the budget to reflect their vision.

As a Tree Surveyor you will be working within a small team of tree surveyors managing our client’s large and diverse tree stock; ranging from street trees, parks, highways, open spaces and woodlands. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking large scale cyclical and reactive surveying and providing technical advice and support to a variety of stakeholders on tree related matters.

Key Deliverables:

  • To undertake a rolling programme of surveying and inspection of our client’s trees (highways, parks, open spaces and woodland). To include species identification, risk/hazard identification (THREATS) and assessment.
  • To undertake reactive surveying in respect to adhoc enquiries, storm damage etc
  • To accurately record all inspections and surveys using Ezytreev via handheld devices.
  • To assist in the preparation of immediate works orders as well as cyclical work programs for our external tree contractors based on survey findings using the Ezytreev system.
  • To liaise with operational teams and contractors to ensure that all arboricultural works are carried out in accordance with good arboricultural practice.
  • To deal with resident and Councillor enquiries in relation to our client’s tree stock and communicate findings and actions in an appropriate format/manner.
  • To provide advice on tree related matters to various stakeholders including clients, Councillors, colleagues etc.
  • The ability to identify trees and diagnose disease, decay and structural defects, and make informative decisions on the required immediate and future works of our trees in line with good arboricultural practices and the Council’s Trees and Woodlands Strategy.
  • The ability to identify and prioritise appropriate works based on survey findings.
  • The ability to plan and prepare tree planting schemes.
  • The ability to effectively communicate arboricultural information and survey findings, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of stakeholders’: the public, Council Members, Council Officers and external organisations.
  • The ability to manage customer/resident expectations and appropriately communicate findings and decisions in a professional manner.

Experience/Requirements:

  • Relevant practical and theoretical experience of good arboricultural practices.
  • Relevant practical and theoretical experience of undertaking visual tree assessments.
  • Relevant experience of dealing with customers or other stakeholders on tree related matters.
  • Relevant experience in ICT skills including MS Office applications.
  • Excellent tree and pest/disease knowledge and identification skills.
  • A practical understanding of the THREATS Tree Hazard and Risk Evaluation system.
  • Current knowledge of industry best practice.
  • Effective IT skills including MS Office and survey data collection software with aptitude to learn new technology
  • A wider understanding of basic tree related ecology & environmental matters

Qualifications:

  • An appropriate and related professional arboricultural qualification (Level 3-4 Certificate/Diploma or equivalent to minimum QCF level 3).
  • Lantra Professional Tree Inspector certification (desirable but not essential). We would support the attainment of this within 6-12 months of employment
  • Full driving licence (and use of own car for business use)

Streetcare Operative (Cemetery)

Aragon Direct Services (a trading name of Peterborough Limited) are looking for Streetcare Machine Operator (Grave digging) to work as part of their Streetcare team based in Peterborough.

Working pattern is Monday – Friday – 42 hours per week plus on-call weekend rota

  • To form part of the Streetcare team undertaking all aspects of cemetery work (including grave digging duties) along with all other streetcare duties as requested, including grass cutting, strimming, shrub/hedge cutting, landscaping, planting, weeding, litter picking, bin emptying etc across a wide range of sites in Peterborough.
  • To be responsible for the safe preparation, digging and management of grave sites, through both manual and machine excavation in line with our client’s requirements and instructions.
  • To ensure all graves are excavated safely, following industry good practice with the use of appropriate shoring equipment, as per instructed date and time instructions.
  • To ensure all graves are correctly reinstated following burials, and topped up as required/requested.
  • To be required to be on standby and call-out on rota outside normal working hours (weekends and BH) – paid for in addition to salary
  • To liaise with members of the public, other team members, managers and sub-contractors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • To ensure high standards of quality, health and safety and customer satisfaction are delivered at all times.
  • To drive company vehicles ‘and undertake all duties relevant to their proper and safe use.
  • To undertake streetcare maintenance inc grounds maintenance (grass cutting, shrub/hedge cutting, planting, litter picking etc) of public open spaces, cemeteries, parks and highways.
  • To undertake all other grounds maintenance and street cleansing duties as requested.
  • To safely use powered hand tools and light plant in addition to the usual range of hand tools and equipment.

What are we looking for?

  • Driving licence up to 3.5 tonne (E), Driving licence up to 7.5 tonne (D)
  • Accredited certification in the use of mini excavators (E), Experience in the use of mini excavators (E)
  • Practical knowledge and qualification in the use of mini diggers, and their safe use in conjunction with good practice. (E)
  • Experience in the use of shoring systems as part of the safe dig process (D)
  • Experience in working within sensitive work areas (D)
  • Experience in towing trailers up to 3.5T (D)
