Finance Assistant

Peterborough Limited are looking to recruit a Finance Assistant as part of maternity cover.

Reporting to the Finance Supervisor you will be responsible for the day to day processing and delivery of efficient and effective accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashier and general ledger functions.

Responsible for maintaining records and delivering accurate and timely financial information, following internal controls and processes.

To undertake and provide a range of other financial administration support and accounting duties.

Key deliverables:

  • Accurately pay suppliers and charge customers and maintain accurate commitment records to enable effective budget monitoring and forecasting.
  • To oversee and maintain the sales ledger ensuring invoices are raised accurately and debts are collected on a timely basis.
  • The pursuit and collection of bad debt.
  • To oversee and maintain the sales ledger ensuring supplier invoices are coded accurately, approved in line with company processes and paid in a timely manner.
  • To oversee and reconcile procurement card records.
  • To ensure new suppliers are set up in a timely fashion.
  • Track and reconcile bank statements/transactions.
  • Create cost analysis reports (fixed and variable costs)
  • Process tax payments.
  • Record accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process invoices and follow up with clients, suppliers and partners as needed.
  • Provide administrative support during budget preparation.
  • Participate in quarterly and annual audits.
  • Processing of Direct Debits.
  • Assist the financial supervisor and head of finance in creating financial reports on a regular basis.
  • Answer questions and provide assistance to stakeholders, customers and clients as needed.
  • Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency and cost reductions.
  • Act as the first point of call for finance queries both from within the company and externally.

Finance Apprentice

Peterborough Limited are looking to recruit a Finance Apprentice.

Working within the Finance Team, the Finance Apprentice is responsible for the processing and analysing of financial data, supporting internal stakeholders, and maintaining records within the finance systems.

Full time, Contract

Key deliverables:

· Processing and recording various types of data.

· Assist Finance Supervisor in providing analyses and information for monthly management accounts.

· Analysing data and provide impactful insights and recommendations to key stakeholders.

Passenger Transport Driver

Aragon Direct Services (a trading name of Peterborough Limited) are recruiting a part time or full time Passenger Transport Driver to work as part of their team based in Peterborough.

The main purpose of this role is to maintain a safe environment for pupils accessing transport services. Where required, working with a passenger assistant to provide high quality school transport service throughout the designated area, providing the service user with a positive experience of our transport services and reflect the values of Aragon Direct Services.

Hours of work – Monday to Friday, Term Time Only. 07.15 – 09.15 and 14.30 – 16.30 (split shift) or Full Time.

Based in Peterborough, this is a part time, term time only, permanent opportunity. In addition to a competitive salary, we also offer an attractive benefits package including pension scheme, holidays and life assurance scheme.

This is a rewarding role working with a variety of students. Assisting our service users daily to help promote independence.

What does the role involve?

  • To collect and deliver allocated clients from designated pick up points, to their destination, ensuring at all times that they are safe and comfortable, and that when travelling all occupants of the vehicle are securely strapped in position using the full range of restrain systems provided.
  • Report any concerns over behavioural, physical, mental or other health needs of the clients to the school and/or line manager. Completing accident forms where required.
  • Deliver the clients to the safe custody of their designated drop off point.
  • Complete regular bus pass checks and report any issues.
  • To undertake daily vehicle checks before use and at the end of each day (brakes, oil, water, tyres, cleanliness and any vehicle damage).
  • To keep tidy, whilst in possession, the vehicle (inside and out) and to report when interior/exterior clean is required.
  • Responsible for maintaining and conducting oneself in a professional manner towards colleagues and other agencies.
  • Display a good attitude to our clients, school staff, visitors, public and colleagues.

Licencing Requirements

Refuse Driver

Aragon Direct Services (a trading name of Peterborough Limited) are recruiting full time Refuse Drivers to work as part of their team based in Peterborough.

The main purpose of this role is to collect refuse and recycling from residential properties in Peterborough and dispose of it at the appropriate waste collection sites.

Hours of work – 37 hours Tuesday – Friday

What does the role involve?

  • Collect refuse/recycling from requested locations and dispose of at the appropriate waste collection sites.
  • Carry out daily vehicle inspections and complete appropriate paperwork.
  • Drive / load as directed.
  • Operate the compaction controls of a company vehicle when required.
  • Operate the ‘in cab device’.
  • Ensure that where premises, gates, barriers are unlocked to gain access and they are relocked, paying particular attention to the safeguarding of keys.
  • Carry out and assist with Loading responsibilities as required.
  • Ensure paperwork is completed fully and passed to the relevant Supervisor.
  • Ensure the satisfactory completion of work in accordance with instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with both company vehicle policy and all legislative requirements.

Requirements – qualifications

  • Driver CPC qualification.
  • Full Category C driving licence.

Requirements – experience:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Driving experience.
  • Experience of using a Digital Tachograph Card is desirable.

Waste Supervisor

Manage employees, who collects refuse and recycling from residential properties in Peterborough, either by manual means or by the use of wheeled bin lifting equipment, and subordinates, working in a team or individually, to maximize their performance and contribution.

Full time – 37 hours per week – Monday to Friday

Key deliverables:

  • The methods, materials and regulations used to collect, transport and dispose of waste. This includes recycling and monitoring of waste disposal and establish waste collection routes.
  • Schedule their work and activities, give instructions, motivate and direct the workers to meet the company objectives.
  • Monitor and measure how an employee undertakes their responsibilities and how well these activities are executed.
  • Identify areas for improvement and make suggestions to achieve this. Lead a group of people to help them achieve goals and maintain an effective working relationship among staff.
  • Ensure safety of site personnel; supervise correct use of protective equipment and clothing; understand and implement safety procedures.
  • Liaise with managers of other departments ensuring effective service and communication, i.e. sales, planning, purchasing, trading, distribution and technical.
  • Performance planning manage one’s time schedule and resources in order to finish tasks in a timely manner.
  • Full adherence and awareness of all aspects of Health and Safety, policies and procedures, Legislation, and Manual Handling.

Cleaner – Part Time

Aragon Direct Services (a trading name of Peterborough Limited) are recruiting Cleaners to work as part of their team based in Peterborough.

The main purpose of these roles is to maintain a clean and safe environment for schools.

Working hours:

Monday to Friday – 10 hours minimum or

Friday to Monday – 3 hours per day

What do the roles involve?

  • Emptying bins and removing waste to a designated area.
  • Cleaning, washing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing and vacuuming to a required standard.
  • Cleaning toilets and washrooms to the required standard where allocated.
  • Using powered equipment where necessary (vacuums, carpet cleaners, scrubbing machines) Training given on induction.
  • Cleaning of work surfaces and furniture as directed.

Lead Arborist/Climber 

Aragon Direct Services (a trading name of Peterborough Limited) are looking to recruit an experienced arborist/climber to lead our small team of arborists/grounds staff based in Peterborough, managing Peterborough City Council’s tree stock. 

The work undertaken as part of our contract with the City Council offers a varied and diverse mix of urban and woodland tree works, ranging from cyclical scheduled ward works to reactive unplanned tree works and maintenance.

This is permanent position, 37.5 hours a week (Mon-Fri 8am – 4pm) offering an immediate start

What are we looking for?

  • Arborist/climber with 5+ years’ experience
  • Qualifications as below

  • Ability to lead a small team of up to 5 arborists/grounds staff
  • Ability to operate company vehicles up to 3.5T and tow chippers

  • Safely driving company vehicles and operating all plant and machinery
  • Completing appropriate safety checks on all vehicles and equipment, and carrying out appropriate maintenance, and reporting defects as required.
  • Ensuring that all team members are following correct procedures and safety protocols
  • Ensuring daily work schedules are followed, and to a consistent high standard.
  • Ensuring that the requisite safety and wildlife risk assessments are undertaken per job
  • Using tablet based software to log and record works completion

Ranger

General Purpose

To conserve and provide access to Flag Fen Archaeology Park’s natural environment and buildings and to ensure the site is kept in a good condition so that our visitors, staff and volunteers have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Permanent, Part time – 24 hours per week

Key Deliverables

  • You’ll help to care for and enhance the rare and protected habitat at Flag Fen, ecological monitoring, and site presentation/customer experience.
  • You will look after this archaeologically significantly rich landscape. Come rain or shine, your enthusiasm will inspire others as you strive to ensure that this landscape is safe and beautifully presented. 
  • To deliver practical conservation work to protect and enhance the site and its conservation.
  • To engage with visitors and ensure they have the opportunity to understand works being carried out.
  • To Supervise Assistant rangers, volunteers and be responsible for the day-to-day management of volunteer practical work and group tasks.
  • To act as assistant key holder for the site, including opening and securing the premises.
  • To assist with caring for livestock and ensuring good standards of animal husbandry are maintained.
  • To deliver high quality customer service for visitors including welcoming and greeting, providing information, giving assistance and advice, and responding to customer needs.
  • To ensure that all security, safety, and H&S procedures for visitors are followed and maintained in order to ensure the safety of all users of Flag Fen.
  • Actively participate with various Heritage projects and activities as appropriate e.g.- summer & educational activities, trails, material preparation etc.
  • To assist the with the emergency plan for Flag Fen and its collections and archaeological assets, attending all callouts as required affecting those collections or archaeological assets.
  • Ensure that all equipment is used safely, in accordance with Health & Safety guidance.
  • To ensure that risk assessments are followed for relevant areas of work and as necessary.

Other Points

Flag Fen is designated as a scheduled ancient monument for its internationally significant archaeology. Although not designated for nature, it provides important habitats for red listed species that thrive in the fen edge wetlands. Our vison for the future is to develop and implement a fenland restoration project, that will not only help the site cope with the effects of environmental change and the gradual desiccation of the fens, but also connect people to Flag Fen’s countryside through experiences that inspire, educate, and entertain, leading people to share and develop our vision. Maintenance Technician

General purpose

To assist and support in the safe and effective operation of leisure services plant and machinery, as well as at any other locations managed by Peterborough Limited as required, ensuring optimum conditions are maintained.

To carry out planned maintenance tasks to ensure company facilities remain fit for purpose and attractive to customers and users of the facilities.

To support Property Services with in-house delivery of maintenance tasks, both reactively and as part of planned maintenance.
